festivus - for the rest of us

hello and happy friday!

i am taking a siesta from MUSIC LOVE FRIDAYS (check out my past posts here!) for a special holiday post involving some of my favourite people in the world. but first, i am super excited to be featured on a rad blog called his little lady, written by the nicest gal named TJ. head on over here to check it out! :)

thursday night was ladies' festivus, put on by my housemate/dear friend hla. for those of you not familiar with festivus, first of all, WHO ARE YOU. may i direct your attention to this wikipedia article explaining the miracle of this special holiday? also, do you think our living room looks like a jungle? it is portrayed as such in these photos, but you're just seeing our greenest corner.

our version of festivus is eating a bunch of food in the living room, dressed in pajamas.  e brought a chocolate log from her work (which is a hot commodity over on academy road, believe it or not!), and hla gifted all of us fine ladies with matt & nat "fineries" that she purchased during an intense online sale a few months back. what a terrific woman, non? down below, you will see e describing each chocolate to us, each description which i promptly forgot. in all serious though, i loved having the time to hang out with my sisters and friends and baby nephew to have a few laughs (and oh, there were laughs) :)

The celebration of Festivus begins with the "Airing of Grievances", which takes place immediately after the Festivus dinner has been served. It consists of lashing out at others and the world about how one has been disappointed in the past year.
From the Seinfeld episode:
Frank Costanza: "And at the Festivus dinner, you gather your family around, and tell them all the ways they have disappointed you over the past year!"
Frank Costanza: "The tradition of Festivus begins with the Airing of Grievances. I got a lot of problems with you people! And now, you're gonna hear about it. You, Kruger. My son tells me your company stinks! You couldn't smooth a silk sheet if you had a hot date with a babe...I lost my train of thought." (all of us ladies decided that since we air our personal grievances with one another on a regular basis, this ritual was not necessary at the current time.TRUTH!)

ps. the POP UP is tomorrow! come by and say hi and support winnipeg makers! :)
