dying for the weekend

this weekend was tiring, to say the least. i think i'm still trying to get myself back in order. i didn't get a lot done blog and shop-wise, but i did manage to dye my sweater! i never really wore this thrifted ralph lauren sweater much when it was white -- too summer-y, and i guess white is not really my colour. now that it's grey, i'm wearing it ALL OF THE TIME. well, since friday. what do you think? i love wearing grey...it's so cozy. i didn't have a big enough pot for the stove top, and i don't have a washer of my own, so i was forced to use a mop bucket full of boiling water to dye this shirt. totally worth it. :) i felt like i was on a roll and so i threw a few things in the bucket (everything that i own that is white aka 3 things) but this one turned out the best. it really depends on the material you're using. i think i may have found a new love, and i'm very tempted to thrift more white things and experiment with dying fabrics. look at me go. happy wednesday, friends.

  1. I'm seriously obsessed with dying fabric. I recently dipped some curtain sheers. What brand do you use for grey? My RIT navy turned purple :/

  4. Rachael, Love it! Ahhh dying is definitely one of those things that scares me. I've dyed a bunch of stuff before but really only half turned out properly: meaning the color was even...but then they bled afterwards. Have you washed the grey sweater yet? I've been meaning to dye my black jeans black to cover the fade...but it's been over a year and scaredy cat mee keeps putting it off. That crystal lamp...did you make it? :[)
