rhymes with orange

i've been having a winnipeg-love kind of week so far, which brings me to today's post! please let me introduce a local shop called Rhymes with Orange, owned and run by Erin Thiessen and Stefanie Hiebert. this store is situated in the heart of the exchange district, which is a fun little area of downtown winnipeg that i adore. these gals have gained their fair share of retail experience over the years in other local clothing shops, and through selling vintage out of a cute little trailer at festivals. the girls know their stuff when it comes to retro clothes etc. and also make jaunts to thailand to pick up vintage-inspired threads!  i think it's inspiring to see such driven, hard-working young people doing what they love and "making it happen", so-to-speak, in my city. it gives me hope :) also, erin and stefanie are super sweet and friendly! i felt so welcomed in the shop. (thanks again  for letting me take some shots, girls!)

MAKE

saturday was such a good day. i decided i would try to do all of my christmas shopping in the locally owned shops in my area (NOT finished, y'all) and checked out a very local new place called MAKE on the way.

when i say local, i mean local, because it's about 2 minutes by foot from my front door. i am so overjoyed about this new space. its so snazzy! they're working on a coffee-shop set up (you know, with places to sit) but for now it consists of an espresso bar at the rear, and an interesting display of the locally-made products hung from the ceiling like a baby's crib mobile. the featured products will change every month or so, and i was told Wi-Fi is on the way! the girls graciously let me hang a poster for the POP UP and take a few pictures around the gallery. i may have also picked up a little something (very little) for my baby nephew, who turns 6 months old on Christmas day. what a day to celebrate! :)
