you know the saying "life is messy"? i've been thinking about it quite often lately in a touchy-feely sense and forgetting about the literal messes in life. i realized today that the awesome feeling i get when i'm working in my extra office/studio space coincides with how messy the room is. it means something is happening! lately i've been tearing apart old dresses and sewing them back together or just cutting 10 inches off the bottom in order to build up my spring/summer wardrobe. i also realized that to keep from getting bored, i'll just move around my tables so i get a fresh perspective of my space. how artsy fartsy does THAT sound? it's true, though.
but getting back to the touchy-feely side of messes, i've been thinking that while they are an inevitable part of life, they should not keep you from learning and growing and getting better. i'm not saying you should hold back or stay home or only "get messy" in a contrived manner, but there is a point when one should stop crediting the saying as an excuse for letting people down, not taking responsibility for oneself or playing dumb. i used to make the same kinds of mistakes quite a bit, maybe as a way to hold myself back or to pretend like i was living in some teenage television drama, but eventually i wanted to stop being/feeling like an idiot and start feeling better about myself.
just some thoughts, guys.
anywho, i did a tonne of stuff over the last few days, which i will be catching you all up on in the coming week or so. in the meantime, i realized i didn't really have any recent pictures of myself with my new do, and i really liked my easter outfit today, so why not post some selfies of myself in my studio? both skirt and shirt are thrifted, and i modified the skirt to make it shorter ;) enjoy!
