a good change

i cut my hair off! my friend steph and i stood in front of her bathroom mirror when all was said and done, covering out mouths with our hands and laughing incredulously. then we shuffled to her balcony and took some pictures. she said maybe she could start charging more for her hairstyling if she includes glamour shots with each 'do :)

i can't stop touching what's left...i'm really liking it so far! it feels quite liberating. it makes me want to wear really big scarves and dresses all the time. i don't usually dress crazy girly, but i think i could get away with more since my hair has a boy-ish look to it now. balance, am i right?! i've never had really short hair before...the closest i came was a cut that i really hated and i cried. there are a few reasons behind my wanting to chop it off. i really wanted a change, and i knew i wanted to have a "pixie cut" at least once in my life. i wanted low maintenance hair, and this is as low as you can get. i also wanted to challenge myself. i think i hide behind my hair a lot and use it to feel attractive, and i wanted to jam against that feeling. i want to like me for me, not because i hang with leonardo, or that guy who played in fargo.

i hope everyone had a lovely weekend! on saturday i sang backup with my sister's band and danced my butt off with my roomie and my mom. on sunday i went for the longest walk i've taken in months and took some pictures around downtown. what did y'all get up to?

  5. Wow props to you for having the courage! And it looks good on you! I'd be so afraid. I can see what you mean about it being liberating. As girls I feel like sometimes we let things like our hair define us.

  8. It's really lovely Rachael! Everything you said in this post, I agree! I apologize for not getting back to your email... :/ i feel like such a horrible friend. :( But do know for the future, I need CONSTANT reminders...it's quite annoying actually...I wish I could be better about remembering things... if you were a fly on my wall you would see some like me going downstairs, and then forgetting what I went down for...going back up stairs, remembering, going back downstairs, sees something that needs to be put away or thrown away etc. do that...then forget why I came downstairs etc. etc. this happens EVERY DAY at least 10 times a day, I wish I was joking when I say my forgetfulness is my daily workout... :/ annnnyways, that was long winded. The cut looks great, you're friend did a wonderful job!! :) xo

  9. Fantastic! I too have had the honour of having a pixie cut at one point in my life. And it was in an effort to stop hiding behind my hair as well. It's gorgeous!
