it was the first beautiful weekend in winnipeg, and i spent most of it in bed! i'm on the mend from a cold, so hopefully i'll be feeling normal again really really soon. i wanna get my bike out, and there are so many things to do this week: band practice, a farewell to my work pal, and our little etsy sale on saturday :)

W.E.S.T. handmade and vintage sale III

I hope that you Winnipeggers will join us on May 4th for the third W.E.S.T. Handmade and Vintage Sale! There will be treats and refreshments for sale while you browse, and a supervised craft table for your kiddies. ETSY VINTAGE SHOP UPDATE

happy wednesday! i hope everyone is keeping well. winnipeg is back to being -40 C, so there's that, and i'm back to summer-dreaming. in the meantime, there are new items in my shop! can you spot the picture i took of my lovely best friend brenna this past weekend? it's WAY easier to take pictures of someone else when you don't have a remote or a timer that takes several pictures with a delay between each snap! i'm working on new listings at the moment, so those should be up little-by-little in the next couple weeks.  if you'd like to shop some of these looks, click here or on my little right-hand side bar there! (ps. this is one of my favourite flower crowns that i've made. it's so large  and bright and fun to wear. if i didn't work in a office, i'd wear one every day!)

hello! today i have a day off work, but of course, i'm working on the shop! my beautiful best friend brenna (BBB) came down to my house yesterday and posed dressed in some new items for the shop, whilst listening to 00's divas on songza. good times, y'all! i wanted to share a band that i've been listening to NON STOP for the last few weeks. these voices break my heart in the best way:

happy friday!

this weekend will be another cold one, but i'm going to try to make the most of it. i'll be volunteering at a show for a local band called boats, seeing my sisters rolling stones cover band, checking out the coffee at a new place called MAKE (which is the coffee bar/makers' retail space that i took pictures of here before christmas...now they have places to sit and possibly cookies?), and of course, working on the shop!

lately i've been kinda stressed with everything going on...it's one of those weeks where restlessness makes me question everything in my life. but i think i'm back on track, and i'm thinking about things i can do to improve the blog and the shop. i really miss taking pictures outside -- the weather has really been keeping me from venturing out unless it's completely necessary. i still think about cutting my hair off every day, so that's a good sign. i've never used photoshop and i think i'm ready to try it now, and i'm pondering purchasing studio lighting for shop photos. all these things! ooh, and i seem to have found myself on a crew to volunteer at the winnipeg folk festival this july! i wasn't able to take the vacation last summer, but this year no one in my office would be going to this, so i'm pretty sure i'm good to go. i'm so excited!

hi guys!

man, am i glad it's friday! i need a break from waiting for the bus in the cold. this weekend will be one of friends, hannah georgas, creating etsy listings and dreaming up new ideas for the blog! if you haven't already checked out the vintage shop, i'm taking 30% off all items until january 31st. some cute black boots will be on their way to cali on saturday, and i'm pretty excited about that! so far i've sent orders to wicked customers in australia, italy, sweden, pennsylvania, toronto and west virginia -- i can't wait to see where i'm shipping to next.

LADYLIKENESS Thrift & Vintage SALE!

hi guys!

i'm california dreaming right now, as in, looking at old pictures from before there was snow on the ground. life in winnipeg has been rather trying as of late. the temperature's been hovering around -45 with the wind chill, and my car has finally given up starting. to leave the house in the morning i have to wear at least two pairs of everything so i don't freeze, which makes me feel uncomfortable and lumpy and to be honest, a little bit sweaty. i was so spoiled this past summer, biking or walking to and from my job downtown, then coming home to change and eat and put on some lipstick before starting a night shift at the clothing store. it felt like the summer of rachael. even though i was working my butt off and i complained about having little free time, looking back i really enjoyed it. it kinda feels like a dream. let's just say i'm looking forward to spring.

studio work

this past weekend went by SO FAST! i tried to get my new studio in order, but i still haven't figured out the best set-up plan as of yet. my three main stations will be a place to photograph items, my desk, and my clothing rack/paperwork/etc. i may also have to look into some lighting solutions because so far i can only take photos on early weekend afternoons. i'd love to take pictures outside but it's -40C, so that's out for the time being. and the chandelier creates funny shadows on my walls at different times of day. kinks to work out!

i thrifted at a couple places on saturday and found a bunch of cool stuff, including things i can't bear selling on my etsy. my mom also gave me some items to sell, including a velvet fushia coat she got from an estate sale the other day. always on the hunt for me...thanks mom! the white dress below will be for sale very shortly, as well as the multi-colour pumps and the coat, but i'm keeping the cowboy boots for me! :) my best gal brenna gave me stone lamp thing for christmas, which is a USB-powered computer lamp and night light that's supposed to be "releasing healthy negative ions that neutralize the effects of the positive ions that emanate from [my] computer screen". i dunno if this thing works, but it looks pretty darn cool, and i remember my gramma having a huge one in her house. i really dig it!

new vintage!

this week is just taking its sweet time! i'm training in a new position at my job and keeping house, trying to take it day by day...but its really hard to keep myself from counting down until the weekend is here again. in other news, one of my roommates moved out! so i'm on my way to setting up a dedicated studio for my etsy shop. it feels quite weird with him gone, which is strange because we usually keep irregular hours and don't see one another for days. anyways, good luck, b! :)

POP-UP-SHOP!

i'm so excited to announce that i will be participating in my first POP-UP SHOP and first in-person sale, really, for Ladylikeness Thrift & Vintage through the wonderful W.E.S.T (Winnipeg Etsy Street Team)! mi casa

this is where i live! in a beautiful house that was built in 1909.

i moved in last september, leaving my parents' home for the first time. moving out definitely signified more than just changing where go at the end of the day to lay my head. sometimes i'm surprised at how i've grown up and come so far in the last few years. every time i accomplish something it becomes second nature, so i forget and it gets locked in the memory bank. accomplishments pile up and occasionally become visible to me again, and that's when i'm forced to look in the bank and feel a sense of pride.

i knew i could be independent...i just needed the chance!

come in and take a look!  ps. after i took some pictures around the house i updated the item photos in my store, modelling the pieces myself. not gonna lie, it was pretty fun :)
